Walter Strickert

March 9, 1944 to December 30, 2019


Walter Earl Strickert – of Listowel, formerly of Ethel, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday December 30, 2019 at the age of 75. He now joins his beloved Verna in heaven. Walter will be remembered as “every one’s Uncle Wally” and was able to fix everyone’s car in Ethel. He worked as a mechanic at Double T Garage for many years. Walter also loved to play cards and marbles with his family and enjoyed knitting hats for family and friends. Beloved husband of the late Verna (Brubacher) Strickert who predeceased him in 2016. Survived by his brothers and sisters John, Mary Hartman, Irvin (Shirley), Frieda (Les) Ducharme, and Lillian (Dave) Grandy. Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Irene Wagler, Mervin Brubacher, Candie Brubacher, Williard Brubacher, Alice (Clayt) Knorr, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents William and Esther (Dittmer) Strickert, brothers Norman (Joan), Carl, Ernie (in infancy), brothers-in-law Wayne Hartman, Lloyd Brubacher and sister-in-law Adeline Brubacher. In keeping with Walter’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.
