Thomas (Tom) Dewar

August 6, 1939 to October 13, 2016

Thomas (Tom) Dewar – of Listowel, formerly of RR2 Atwood, passed away after a brief illness at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday October 13, 2016 at the age of 77. Tom was a true farmer, spending time at the farmer’s markets at Kitchener and Waterloo Stockyards and Listowel Livestock, but always found time to enjoy camping at Family Paradise Campground and playing Lost Heir. He took great pride in his Ford 8N tractor. Beloved husband of Lorraine (Pestell) Dewar whom he married in 1960. Loving father of Deb Best, Paul (Jodie) and Greg (Cindy). Special grandpa of Dennis (Mel), Darryl (Lisa), Candace (Jeramey), Chelsea (Steve) and great- grandpa of Lily and Bryson. Dear brother of Shirley Buchanan, Jessie Buchanan, Marj (Paul) Krauter and Dorie Wagner (Ron Hartman). Brother-in-law of Mary Strachan, Larry Pestell (Arlene Riehl), Faye Welsh (Ken), Robert Pestell, Andy Buchanan, Elaine Pestell, Lillian Pestell and Pauline Pestell. Remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and Barry Wagner. Predeceased by his parents David and Mattie (Hurst) Dewar, sister Kaye Shiell and brothers-in-law Alvin Shiell, Glen and Alex Buchanan. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Elma Memorial Community Centre, 251 Main Street, Atwood, on Sunday October 16 from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Monday October 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
