Martin Brand

October 2, 1934 to December 9, 2014

Martin Brand of Milverton, formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday December 9, 2014 at the age of 80. Martin was a former volunteer firefighter with the Atwood station, a former school bus driver and a member of the Atwood Men's Club. He loved gardening and always had the largest garden in the neighbourhood. Martin enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren playing cards and board games. Beloved husband of the late Ruth (Ropp) Brand who predeceased him in 2001. Loving father of Judi and Louis Gasparik and David and Wendy Brand. Special grandpa of Zakk, Owen, Alicia, Greg, and Jaymee. Dear brother of Kees, Sister Marie Brand, Bill and Toni, John and Margaret, Adrian, Gilbert and Annie, Paul and Mary, and Corrie Kehoe. Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bill Ropp, Edith and Gerard Schalk, Fred and Verna Ropp, Marg and Bruce Bates, Doug and Valerie Ropp and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Petrus and Dymphna (Mies) Brand, step-mother Catherine Huybens, brothers Jack, Goff and his wife Dini, brother-in-law Pat Kehoe, sisters-in-law Cor Brand and Lynne Ropp. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Friday December 12 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday December 13, 2014 from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
