Marie Laidlaw of Listowel, passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London on Friday September 25, 2015 at the age of 55. Marie was a former leader and Commissioner of the Girl Guides of Canada. She enjoyed playing many kinds of scratch tickets. Beloved wife of Rick Thompson. Loving mother of Anne Laidlaw and Shawn Lawson, Gail Laidlaw and Justin Masson, Jamie and Amanda Laidlaw. Blessed grandma of Emma, Lily, Oliver, Hunter, Carley, Hannah, Brennen, Kaylie, Parker, Shaymus. Missed by her step children Ryan, Shawn and Laura, and step grandchildren Pheonix, Zack and Brooklyn. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Wayne and Karen Rea, Jean and Marty Ambedian and Louise Rea. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and the Thompson and Laidlaw families. Predeceased by her parents Oliver and Doreen (Hiusser) Rea, brothers Gerry in infancy and Ken, step daughters Shannon and Heidi. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Monday September 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Tuesday September 29 , 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Dwarika officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
