June Cockwell

July 21, 1938 to August 3, 2008

June passed away suddenly at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday August 3, 2008. She resided in Atwood and was born 70 years ago in Seaforth, a daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (McCowan) Smith. June was a member of Donegal United Church and Donegal UCW. She was a life member of both Donegal Women's Institute and North Perth Women's Institute. She was also an active volunteer for the Listowel Agricultural Society. June was the beloved wife of Murray Cockwell whom she married in 1960; the loving mother of David and Marilyn of RR#1 Atwood and their son Scott, Debbie and Fraser Ferguson of London and their children Alexander and MacKenzie, Steven and Leah of Winnipeg and their children Ben, Carson and Jayda. She was the dear sister of Marjorie Coleman of Exeter and Mark and Kathy Smith of Egmondville. June will also be remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Neil and Bernice Cockwell of Atwood, Bette Cockwell of Listowel, Jim Whiteoak of Markdale and by her nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson Michael Cockwell (2001), brother-in-law Bruce Coleman and sister-in-law Mary Anne Smith. June's family invites relatives and friends to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home 141 John Street, Atwood, on Wednesday August 6, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Donegal United Church on Thursday August 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michelle Owens officiating. Interment to follow in Donegal Cemetery.
