Joyce McLaughlin

December 27, 1934 - August 18, 2024

Of Listowel passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital with her daughters by her side on Sunday August 18th, 2024 at the age of 89.

Loving and devoted mother of Nancy (Bill) Schlotzhauer of Stratford, Rick of Mississauga, Jane (Jeff) Johnson of Listowel and Tracy (Jeff) Bender of Listowel. Cherished grandmother of Jeremy, Matthew, Kristopher, Ashley (Shawn), Jordan (Brandee), Kelsey (Mac), Adam (Stephanie), Jessica (Cole), Brittney (Jordan), Abbey (Matthew), Travis (Brittany) and 20 great grandchildren who will miss her tremendously.

Loved and fondly remembered by her brothers Doug (the late Berniece) McEwen of Monkton, Roy (Joan) of Milverton and sister in law Marjorie (the late Barry) McEwen of Stratford. She will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families who loved their Aunt Joyce.  Joyce also touched the lives of extended family, friends and neighbours with her warm and welcoming nature and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She will be especially missed by her best friend Shirley Linton with whom she shared a special bond for over 80 years.

Joyce’s greatest pleasure was having her family around her for visits or larger family gatherings.

Joyce was an accomplished quilter, gifting many of her creations to family and friends over the years.  She also enjoyed the numerous bus trips taken with friends throughout the years.

With all its challenges and rewards, Joyce loved her life on the farm, helping her husband Bev (predeceased, 2015) with whatever needed to be done, as well as all the cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and especially raising her four children.  We will be forever grateful to her for instilling that work ethic and quiet strength in all of us.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday August 31, 2024 from 2 PM-4 PM at the Elma Logan Recreation Complex in Monkton. Words of remembrance will be shared at 2:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Listowel Memorial Hospital or the charity of one's choice.  Online condolences may be left at www.brennemanfuneralhome.ca Arrangements entrusted to Brenneman Funeral Home Atwood.
