Harold Johnston

Harold Johnston of Guelph, formerly of Scarborough, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph on Sunday June 27, 2021 in his 100th year. Harold was born in Elma Township, a son of the late William and Nelly (Symes) Johnston. He was a hockey convener for many years in the town of Markham. Harold enjoyed golfing, fishing and after retirement, travelling with his wife Viola. He cherished the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

Beloved husband of the late Viola (Spencer) Johnston who predeceased him in 2019. Survived by his sons Robert (Janet), Brian (Marilyn), Jim; and daughter-in-law Rose Johnston. Special grandpa of Beverly, Patricia, Jennifer, Richard, Ryan, Sarah, Erin, Emily, Michelle, Christopher and great-grandpa of Ethan, Peyton, Madelaine and Jacob. Remembered fondly by Debbee Johnston and Rhonda Love.

Predeceased by his son Richard and sister Olive and her husband William Shearer.

In keeping with Harold’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood on Saturday July 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m..
