Elizabeth Stewart (Thiel) of RR #3 Monkton, passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer at Stratford General Hospital with her family and friends by her side, on Thursday July 1, 2010 at the age of 66. Elizabeth was a faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton. She was president of the WMS for many years, an active member of the WA, and secretary-treasurer of the Huron-Perth Presbytery for 6 years. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and traveling. Beloved wife of Carl Stewart whom she married in 1964. Loving mother of Ron Stewart and friend Cheryl of Brockville, Al and Tanya (Bontaine) Stewart of Monkton, Jennifer Calder of Monkton and Leanne Stewart of Stratford. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Steven, Kayla, Meagan, Cameron, Danielle, Bradley, Alex, Samantha and Allie. Dear sister of Doug and Diane Thiel, Ken Thiel all of Fullarton, Katie and Brian Hopf of Carlingford and Paulene and Jerry Bain of Milverton. Fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Marie and her husband Art Heimpel of Mitchell, Joyce Bradbeer of Scarborough. Isabel Arthur of Stratford and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Georgina (Lannin) Thiel, mother and father-in-law Elwood and Mary (Pestell) Stewart and her brother-in-law Victor Arthur. Elizabeth's family invites relatives and friends to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Sunday July 4, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Elizabeth's life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton on Monday July 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Theresa McDonald-Lee officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
