Dorothy Buchanan

July 20, 1928 to November 8, 2017

of Listowel, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday November 8, 2017 at the age of 89. Dorothy was a charter member and past president of the Atwood Lioness Club and a former member of the Donegal Women’s Institute. She was an admirer of the Royal Family and was so proud to have met and shook the hand of Queen Elizabeth. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, crafting and spending time with her family. Beloved wife of the late Elgin Buchanan who predeceased her in 1986. Loving mother of Dorene Goodyer (Jim), Doug (Diane), Marlene Lamarche (Gene), Jim (Nancy), Jeff (Nancy), Ron (Christine). Cherished grandma of Steven (Monique), Julie (Rob), Kim (Mike), Tiffany, Dean (Valerie), Karrie (Duane), Chris, Cody (Julie), Elisha (Kayla), Brady (Samantha), Trinity, Alexandra, Brianna, Logan, Lilah and step-grandma of Jeremy (Heather). Great grandma of Sadie, Paige, Brenden, Bradley, Brock, Brooklyn, Nolan, Reegan, Taitum, Hylinn, Parker, Bayden, Sarah, Megan, Emily, Tanner, Trent, Kaden, Kyson, Kwinten and step-great grandma of Natasha and Griffin. Dear sister of Shirley Aitcheson and sister-in-law of Robina Alexander and Ferne Johnston. Fondly remembered by Betty Beaman, Stephanie Beaton Lamarche and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents Melville and Ruby (Shearer) Alexander, brother Gordon and sisters Grace in infancy and Margaret. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Elma Memorial Community Centre, Main Street, Atwood, on Sunday November 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Monday November 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Colin Snyder officiating. Interment in Donegal Cemetery.
