Doreen Smith

February 5, 1930 to May 20, 2016

Doreen Smith – of Listowel passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on May 20, 2016 at the age of 86. Doreen was secretary-treasurer of Atwood Pet Food Supplies (now Atwood Resource Inc.) for over 20 years. She enjoyed knitting, making crafts and bowling, but most of all spending time with her family. Beloved wife of Garnet Smith whom she married in 1953. Loving mother of Diane Darroch (Allan Runhart), David (Cathy), Doug (Lorell) and Darlene Bowes (Tom). Special grandma of Sharon, Debra, Michelle, Tom, Nancy, Jennifer, Jason, Angie, David, Verne, Stacey and 23 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Oscar and Nellie (Pryce) King, her sister Lillian Cheeseman and son-in-law Gordon Darroch. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John St., Atwood, on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Doreen’s life will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elma Memorial Community Centre, 251 Main Street, Atwood, with Brian Hymers officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel, at a later date.
