Delphine Dewar – of Listowel and formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the age of 86. Delphine was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church, the Atwood Presbyterian Women’s Institute and a former member of the Atwood Lioness Club. She was a sports enthusiast, playing baseball and basketball in her youth and lawn bowling in her senior years. She enjoyed watching hockey and baseball, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays, and also her children and grandchildren’s sports teams. Delphine was also a Scout Leader for many years. Beloved wife of the late Jim Dewar who predeceased her in 2002. Loving mother of Glenn (Cathy), Barbara Armstrong, Jamie (Heather), and Murray (LeeAnne). Special Grandma of Jamie (Angie), Jennifer (Nicole), Stacy (Chris), Mandie, Steff (Sheila), Kelsey (Patrick), Conner (Jessica), Murcedes, Izsak (Samantha), Kristy (Ben), Steve (Jessica), Jackson, Devon, and great-grandma of Logan, Camrynn, Carter, Sara and Rayna. Dear twin sister of Maxine Hunking. Sister-in-law of Pat, Janet and Metta Hunking and Jean Dewar. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Ruby (Manning) Hunking, and her brothers Ted, Joe and Ray Hunking. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Thursday, October 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where the funeral service to celebrate Delphine’s life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ernie Naylor officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
