Betty Van Sickle, formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at her residence, Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel, on Sunday October 17, 2010 at the age of 87. Betty was a member of Atwood United Church and Atwood U.C.W. She was also a life member of the Maple Leaf Women's Institute and a member of the Independent Order of Forresters. Beloved wife of John Van Sickle whom she married in 1944. Loving mother of Judy and Jim Bradley of Burlington, Charlie and Nancy Van Sickle of Chesley, Fred and Barbara Van Sickle of Acton and Dave and Chris Van Sickle of Beamsville. Special grandma of Scott and April, Karl, Karen and Peter, Brett and Kerry, Tracy and Bill, Mark and Anne, Jim, Stephanie, Lisa, Curtis and Shannon, Sally and Jeff, John, Ken and Nicole, Christy and James, Lee and Lisa, Scott and Tash and 25 great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Eva Joubert of Tillsonburg. Also remembered by Pam McKenna and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Linda (Avery) Seale, grandson Drew, her sister Mercia and her husband Harry Heath and her brother William and his wife Bessie Seale. Betty's family invites relatives and friends to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood, on Sunday October 24, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Monday October 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michelle Owens officiating. Interment in Palermo Cemetery, Oakville.
